CSD Canteen Opening Timings, Weekly Off and Holidays: The Canteen Stores Department (CSD) in India manages a wide range of canteen services. These services include over 4000 Unit Run Canteens (URCs) and 34 Depot Canteens, which serve as regional offices responsible for overseeing the operations of the URCs in their respective zones. In addition to physical stores, CSD has embraced online retailing to offer high-value items such as cars, bikes, scooters, and electronic products through their online portal. This convenient platform allows customers to shop from the comfort of their homes or offices, using their mobile phones and involving their family members.

However, it is important to note that the canteen buying centers occasionally close for business in order to manage their accounts and allocate funds to the dealers. This closure typically lasts for a period of three to four days every month, either at the end or beginning of the month, or sometimes even both. For instance, in March, sales were temporarily halted from March 29th, 2024 for a period of 3 to 4 days. The canteens are expected to reopen on either April 1st or 2nd, 2024.

CSD (Canteen Stores Department) Canteen Open in all Days except Weekly Off and Central Govt Holidays

Canteen Stores Department (CSD) has followed the same pattern of holidays observed in Central Government Offices throughout India.

CSD has nearly 3700 Unit Run Canteens and 34 Depots located in various parts of India. CSD followed the instructions given by the Department of Personnel and Training on Holidays, however, the weekly off will be decided by the regional office of CSD.

The opening time of CSD Depot and Unit Run Canteen (URC) is generally 9 am to 9.30 am. The closing time of Depot is at a regular time of 5.30 pm. But, the URCs are functioning in evening hours up to 7 pm to 7.30 pm for customers’ satisfaction. URC staff will get more time for lunch hour. However, the total time of opening of URC and Depot not more than 8 hours.

The open and closing time of URC canteens depends upon the weather condition and working hours of personnel.
