Statewide government offices will be closed on public holidays. However, department heads will be required to make arrangements for the execution of urgent duties. If any of the Muslim Fraternity’s festivals do not occur on the published day, members of the Muslim Fraternity who are employed by the government may be granted a holiday on the date of observance, taking into account the holidays that have previously been proclaimed.
Kodagu District will observe Kail Muhuruth on Sunday, September 3, 2023, Tula Sankramana on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, and Hurthi Festival on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, as local holidays. The Education Department’s Commissioner of Public Instructions will publish a separate list of holidays.
State Government Employees may use up to two restricted holidays in 2023, with prior approval from the relevant authority awarding Casual Leave, in addition to the General Holidays.
The Karnataka state government has a list of restricted holidays for its employees. The purpose of these vacations is to offer employees with a respite from their regular routine and much-needed rest. This list does not contain Souramana Ugadi (14.04.2023), as it is a General Holiday for Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanthi, nor Swarna Gowri Vrata (18.09.2023), as it is a General Holiday for Varasiddhi Vinavaka Vrata, nor Ananta Padmanabha Vrata (28.09.2023), as it is a General Holiday for Eid-Milad.
Karnataka also has a number of bank holidays throughout the year. Banks and their staff observe these holidays to take a break from their everyday activities. Good Friday (April 2), Eid al-Fitr (May 13), Ganesh Chaturthi (August 11), and Christmas Day are some of the public holidays in Karnataka in 2023. (December 25th).
