What is Dearness Allowance
The Dearness Allowance is the most important salary element for government employees in India. A particular percentage of DA hike every six months on basic salary or basic pension is a tremendous pay hike for Central and State government employees. The D.A. hike also applicable for pensioners and family pensioners!
When DA Hike Announcement Made in India?
Once in six months the calculation of Dearness Allowance as per the recommendations of the 7th pay commission will be finalized by the Finance Ministry. The DA hike report will be sent for the approval of the Cabinet Committee. After getting approval a hike on additional Dearness Allowance will be announced by the Ministry of Finance. All Central Government employees, Civil pensioners, Defence Pensioners, and family pensioners (including Railway and Armed Forces Personnel) are eligible to get additional DA/DR.

DA RATES TABLE (D.A. RATES CHART)
Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) – DA/DR Rates Table from 1996, 2006, and 2016.
Central Government is releasing orders for additional Dearness relief to pensioners retired in the 5th CPC, 6th CPC, and 7th CPC separately. The calculation of Dearness relief for the 5th CPC, 6th CPC, and 7th CPC Pensioners are slightly different for each CPC. Orders were issued separately for 5th, 6th, and 7th CPC Pensioners from DoPPW.
The table shows the percentage of DA and DR From 1996 for the 5th CPC Pensioners, From 2006 for the 6th CPC Pensioners, and From 2016 for the 7th CPC Pensioners in separate columns (DA Rates from Jan 2016 in 7th pay commission till date).
