Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) operates as an independent entity under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. A total of 1255 Kendriya Vidyalayas, including three overseas, are overseen by 25 Regional Offices. Each Kendriya Vidyalaya is managed by a Vidyalaya Management Committee led by a senior officer from the Defence/Civil sector or an educationist.
