Central Government Approves 4% Dearness Allowance for Kendriya Vidyalaya Teachers from January 2023
The Cabinet has approved the disbursement of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief to Central Government employees and pensioners, respectively, effective from January 1st, 2023. This extra installment will bring the rate up by 4% from the current 38% of Basic Pay/Pension in order to counteract inflation, and the combined impact on the exchequer is estimated at approximately Rs. 12,815.60 crore annually.
The increase will benefit about 47.58 lakh Central Government employees and 69.76 lakh pensioners as per the 7th Central Pay Commission’s recommendations. The Dearness Allowance rate will be 42% effective from March 2023, with arrears for January and February 2023 to be paid out. A Dearness Allowance calculator based on pay matrix level and basic pay is available to Central Government employees to determine the exact amount of their increase.
DA Hike for KV Teachers
The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is a group of government schools in India that are overseen by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It currently has 1,248 schools across India, as well as three schools in Moscow, Tehran, and Kathmandu. This chain of schools is maintained by 25 Regional Offices and 05 ZIETs (Zonal Institute of Education and Training) under KVS (HQ), making it one of the world’s largest school networks and the largest in India. The Kendriya Vidyalaya adheres to a uniform compensation structure, including basic pay, DA, and other allowances, for both its teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as pensioners and family pensioners.
How DA Calculate for KV Teaching Staff
All teaching and non-teaching staff at Kendriya Vidyalayas will receive an additional 4% DA in their March 2023 salary as a result of this announcement. Arrears for the months of January and February will be paid separately.
The increase in DA for KVS employees and officers, including TGT, PGT, and PRT teachers, is determined by their basic salary. To illustrate, if a KV school teacher’s basic pay is Rs. 42,300 (pay level 6), they will receive Rs. 17,766 as DA in March 2023, compared to the previous amount of Rs. 16,074. The amount of the DA hike is Rs. 1,692.
DA Arrears Calculation in KVS
All employees of KV will receive a Dearness Allowance of 42% in March 2023, once the order from the Finance Ministry is issued. The calculation and payment of DA arrears for January and February will follow separately. As an illustration, if a KV employee with a basic pay of Rs. 40,400 (pay level 5) received Rs. 16,968 as DA earlier, they will now receive Rs. 16,532 in March 2023, with a difference of Rs. 1,692. The arrears for the employee will be Rs. 3,384.
